At Whatever, we don’t judge people by how many tricks they can do, or who’s a “better” skater. We believe the skater that’s having the most fun and encouraging others to do the same is the best skater. This series of “Skateboarding Made Simple” By Aaron Kyro, a favorite skater amongst our crew is probably one of the best, if not the best video to watch that will actually help you learn how to skate. We will be posting all volumes so stay tuned!
Seriously so many face melting rails in Nyjah latest Nike SB part it’s unreal. He also gets smoked super hard – no spoilers – but oof!! Maybe nobody is surprised, since it’s Nyjah Huston, and we already know he’s insanely talented. But this is next level skateboarding no matter how you look at it, and he’s clearly pushing himself to the limits to take it up a notch. What’s your fav clip in this part?
You have probably heard of Aaron Kyro, professional skater and Youtube Star. He is known for his Youtube Channel called Braille Skateboarding, where he has many tutorials and skate videos based of his own self-taught methods. In this video above, Aaron helps you build a solid foundation for all of your skating and fundamental tricks. He covers turning, stopping, and everything in between. These are the fundamentals Aaron goes over before diving into the most common tricks-ollies, frontside 180’s, backside 180’s, pop shove it’s, front shove its, heelflips and kickflips. Stick with Aaron and his strategical order of learning the art of skating, and you will go far! Or at least, improve.
In this video from VL skate, they outline the ten things every beginner skater should know how to do well. This list of things may seem like it should go without saying, but many new skaters who pick up a board and immediately try to do tricks without a proper foundation will find that it is a lot harder to improve and move on to more advanced tricks down the road. If you are a beginner you want to listen and make sure you have these ten fundamentals down before you move on to the tougher stuff!
In this video, created by the guys of Braille Skateboarding, they teach you how to critique yourself in order to learn from your own mistakes when trying to land different tricks. They share what their riders do behind the scenes to help each other improve from their mistakes and ultimately master different tricks. They share with us their technique of having a friend film you, watching it back in slo-mo to break it down, and recognize exactly where you are screwing up so you can learn from those mistakes!
We love videos like this. With this video even beginners can pick up a new trick or two to go have some fun without it being too difficult or frustrating or dangerous. Nailing a new trick in an hour or two is the best feeling. Sometimes, it’s a trick you’ll continue to do for the rest of your life and get a lot of props for! But, not every trick has to have air-time and rails whether it’s skateboarding OR longboarding or otherwise! The original roots of skateboard tricks were flatland and surf style tricks more like what we consider longboard freestyle and today, not what most people consider “tricks” on a skateboard, but these tricks paved the way for steez and style to be forefront in what soon blossomed from a surfer hobby sport to a world-wide phenomenon capturing the hearts and minds of the youth like something nobody had expected before, with pioneers like Jay Adams and the Dogtown Z Boys are still famous to this day for. Along these lines, Michael Brooke of Concrete Wave Magazine demonstrates as he shows off 10 of his favorite tricks in a video he calls:
10 Tricks Your Dad Can Do
Nice job Michael!
There’s lots of ollies that could have been in the Top 5, but that’s not this. This is a pretty funny and yet very informative ollie tutorial here for skaters of all levels. Our hats are off to Skateboard Bruh for making this fine tutorial happen.
If you’re a beginner, check out the difference between the beginner ollie and the boned ollie and it might help you take it one step at a time. If you’re advanced, check out THE POSER OLLIE, this is one of the funniest explanations I’ve ever seen in a tutorial! I didn’t know what is up with this guys accent or where he’s from but if you subscribe to his channel you’ll probably figure it out! He’s got a lot of good tutorials, and it’s cool how he shoots this from a first-person point of view so you can see how it’s supposed to look when you look down at your feet to hit your ollie in practice!

No skateboard will ever be the same with the option to design your own grip tape, trucks and wheels! You can be as simple or complex as you want. Awaken the pro skater in you with a killer custom skateboard for your easy riding.
Unleash Your Creative Mind
Jab into your originality as a skater and find what drives you to skate. With your passion, designing your own grip tape can become a way to get you back into your roots with skateboarding. Nicknames, logos, graffiti art, personal sketches, brand names, pictures are just simple starters to think about with your custom grip tape. Now you can think of designing both sides of your skateboard and what contrasting colors look best together. The top of the skateboard is something people see first which is a great way to sponsor names or extend your brand to the pros.
Style Your Ride
Getting your name out to the public can be challenging but with custom grip tape you can design fresh logos that attract riders from all around! When you design your skateboard or long board custom designs always look amazing because no one else has seen them before. This way when you’re cruising down hills, riding the pipes, or doing tricks on a rail both sides of your skateboard are visible. Attracting others attention just got twice as easier than before so styling your ride would give your status as a rider ample leeway in the direction of your skating career.

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 is Almost Here! Break Out Your Control Sticks, The Skateboard Video Game King Is Back!
Its really happening and Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 is back and set to release in just a few short days on September 29th. We’ve already got our THPS5 pre-orders placed, our XBox One controllers buffed, and our thumbs ready for action. We play a lot of skating video games at the Whatever Skateboards office, from the Skate series to setting Top 10 Global Records on Ollie Ollie, but Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 is going to be the ultimate. You may have forgotten but let us remind you: we’re a San Diego skateboard company and that means we rock everything Hawk. We’ve been drooling over the gameplay footage, soundtrack, and hype for weeks. Now that Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 is ready for release (remember, its been almost 13 years since THPS4 was released) we can barely contain ourselves.
Make Me Drool THPS5
Easy. First off its the most major release since in the Tony Hawk Pro Skater series since you started skating. Remember stick jamming on THPS the Playstation 1 / N64 versions? Us too. Remember the incredible soundtracks? Yep. Remember the ridiculous air and tricks? YEP. Its all back, and its better than ever. Online play, create a park, real world locations, and everything you ever wanted. And oh yeah, they added in the slam down grind feature from Ollie Ollie that really lets you jam around and pop on and off.
I Can Haz Customization? Can I Create My Own Skater and Skateboard?
It is confirmed in Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 you can create your own skateboard deck and even do customization on your skater. This is huge for the series and was a major draw for Skate 3 and Skate 4. Word on the street is in THPS5 you’ll be able to use some major brand graphics and art so we’re stoked to see what THPS brings. As the gold standard for skateboard customization we’re glad to see Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 get in on the action we’re excited to see if there’s a way to print your Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 custom skateboard design in real life.
Oh Wait What Online Mode!?
Yes this time around you can build and share your own parks. Other skaters will be skating next to you as you’re hitting tricks & lines for objectives so you can watch other people and share your best lines live. No word yet on if you need to share the ramp but we’ll keep posted on how easy it is to snake. It looks pretty cool to be shredding a park with your friends online, especially if they aren’t skaters or live across the country. No substitute for a good skate sesh but after you push home this game is going to be awesome to crash on the couch with.
