Summer is right around the corner which means warm weather, longer days and more time to skate outside. You may have your favorite skate park, shopping center, boulevard or boardwalk but what about creating your own park?! This Summer, we’re looking for people to post the most creative, non-conventional skate trick videos for a chance to win your very own custom skateboard. Here’s how it works:
We want Creative, Never Before Seen Footage!
To clarify, we aren’t seeking videos of kickflip done off a 50 foot house (it would be cool but we don’t want anyone to kill themselves during this competition) we want to see you create funny videos using props from your garage, bedroom, local park etc. Use ladders, chairs, ply wood, trampolines, ANYTHING! The world is your oyster. Find a cool spot in the woods or on abandoned fishing dock. Go explore, or stay in your backyard but wherever you decide to film, be creative! If you need some inspiration, and a good laugh, check out the video from @me_5j
Enter your videos by tagging @whateverskateboards in your caption along with hashtag #whateverbackyardsummer for a chance to win your own custom skateboard. Winners will be selected and reposted on the last day of Summer! GOODLUCK AND HAVE FUN!

I don’t know about you, but when a new year begins I like a make small changes to my look, wardrobe, what I eat, and what I ride! Changing up when I always skate on is important because you never know if that will be the factor of improving tricks, and landing the perfect tre flip. If some of your New Year’s resolutions involved improving your skateboard skills, start with a new clean slate. Customize your own skateboard! Here are some ideas for your new custom skateboard:
Choose Images that make YOU Happy
You will perform better when you are riding on something you have personalized. Especially a skateboard with a design that makes you happy! Maybe it’s your name across the deck that will motivate you to shred harder. Or maybe it’s your icon, or favorite celebrity. Whatever or whoever it is, you can easily upload any design to your deck. You can also add texts and stickers to vamp up your board. Another special touch, it creating your own design or logo. Whenever you design something that is your OWN, you automatically feel a different way about it, compared to buying a basic skateboard brand. Regardless of the design you choose, have fun with it and don’t be afraid to get creative!
Riding on your New Deck
Riding on a brand new deck is more than a feeling. It’s a mentality! There’s something really special about starting over and making new memories on a skateboard. So, if you had some trouble with landing tricks last years, try using a different or new board. Even if it’s just mental, there’s something powerful about starting on a fresh canvas, and in this case, a fresh deck.
Custom skateboard decks make great wall art for you home, apartment, office, breweries, restaurants and more. They give such a playful, rugged and cool vibe once mounted on the wall. Skateboard decks can be positioned horizontal or vertical on your wall and look cool. Here are some important tips to thing about when you are designing a custom deck used for wall art:
Choose the Traditional Heat Transfer Park Decks
Our traditional heat transfer park decks are best for wall art. Most of our Park deck sizes listed on the site are available with this method. These boards are made using the traditional heat transfer method on American Maple. The design has a glossy finish and designs on this type of board may scratch easier that the alternative method. However, we can give a greater price break for these types of boards based off of numbers of designs. These are great for promotional giveaways or wall art. We have these in 7.5″ -8.5″ in steep and mellow concave. Please note the boards with mellow concave are stained on the top.
Use Vibrant Colors
Using vibrant colors when designing your deck for wall art will really make the deck pop. Dark colors do not transfer well and may print darker than they should. Be sure to check with our customer service if you have a logo you want to use. We will make sure the color quality matches as close as possible! You will be so happy with how the custom skateboard deck looks on your wall!
Have Fun with It!
Custom skateboard wall art is such a cool way to decorate your space. Have fun with designing! Use colors, backgrounds, texts and upload photos! The possibilities are endless when it comes to designing a deck. If you’re ever unsure of resolution or color quality, you can always reach out to our customer service team and request a proof. We always have suggestions for which board to choose when designing strictly for wall art uses. Have fun with designing your custom skateboard wall art!

At Whatever, we don’t judge people by how many tricks they can do, or who’s a “better” skater. We believe the skater that’s having the most fun and encouraging others to do the same is the best skater. This series of “Skateboarding Made Simple” By Aaron Kyro, a favorite skater amongst our crew is probably one of the best, if not the best video to watch that will actually help you learn how to skate. We will be posting all volumes so stay tuned!
